4 Times Maharawal Ratan Singh AKA Shahid Kapoor Looked Like Padmavati’s Best Decision Ever

Let’s take a moment and digest this slow—the trailer is here. Grandeur daddy, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie Padmavati’s trailer is finally up for viewing. To break it all down: Deepika Padukone looks like something she’s never looked like before, Ranveer Singh’s absolutely going for the kill and Shahid Kapoor, oops sorry, Maharawal Ratan Singh is kinda proving why he’s Padmavati best score ever. He looks magnificent, beastly, humble but most importantly, much like the Maharaja he’s portraying in the movie. Here are four times or if we may, four reasons why Shahid is the biggest highlight of the trailer:

1. When he lit up our screens, post an intense bridal wear moment on Ms. Padukone, carrying a sword and flaunting a handlebar like the true-blue hero of the script. Hand-held fire lamps in the background and a number of women trying to steal the limelight, Maharawal Ratan Singh yet manned the frame in a bejewelled turban and handcrafted mint green/gold ethnic number.

2. Shahid’s staple, Rajasthani colour palette that almost had us at its fit. Whilst the tones and shades are re-defining Chittori masculinity, the maroon-coloured drape placed on his right arm is playing best friends with the Kundan detailing on the jewels.

3. And here, bringing a scar and blood-less version of his iconic white Angrakha moment on the movie poster, that’s proving why Deepika Padukone is standing by his side here. In an organic fabric, tailored to the T and featuring traces of Chikankari embroidery, Shahid’s ethnic wear game here is a little too strong.

4. And lastly, an intense armour-laced version of the Rajasthani ruler, that was on-screen proof of the character’s valiant nature. “We wanted to glorify the Rajputana valour with his armour here. So, we worked with gold leather and velvet, and infused metal with leather to formulate the chest plate”, say Vipul Amar and Harsheen Arora, designers of the armour for Shahid here.
