There’s a lot men are always on the look out for—the next big soccer game, Saturday night drinking, Apple’s upcoming phone, a large portion of chicken wings and sometimes…even low maintenance situations in life. To sum it up, guys are hard working, sure but they yearn for an easy way out of every goddamn thing. Take for example, haircuts that are easy, breezy and versatile AF—buzz cuts. But while David Beckham, Aamir Khan, Zayn Malik, Shahid Kapoor have all glorified the ‘do in life, most of us are vary of baring the head all. Truth is, buzz cuts are fun, suit most men and most importantly, require no pomade. If you’re sporting one already or planning on taking the first plunge, here are 5 buzz cut styles that you should tap at least once in life.
While dwelling into a buzz cut, your barber will ask you for one important question—what number? ‘Number’ meaning the guard on their clipper/trimmer. So here’s the thing: every style of buzz cuts has a numerically-recognised guard attached to it, which work in the chronology of 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. To help you achieve your desired result, instruct the barber with the right number setting. Unless, of course, you trust them with an absolute blind eye.
1. Induction Cut

The shortest of all haircuts, the Induction cut comes straight off the family of military recruits. While instructing your barber, ask him to get rid of the guards on his clippers/trimmer. What you need to achieve here: a balanced hair length throughout and not a clean-shaven scalp.
2. Burr Cut
Slightly longer than the Induction cut, this ‘do requires the use of guards on your trimmer/clipper. To be precise, of #1 or #2 (depending upon your requirement). However, it requires constant maintenance, meaning—a frequent trim. Pro Tip: Maintain a slight stubble to add maturity to this sandpaper style!
3. The Butch Cut

Using #3 or #4 on the trim setting, this particular style features about half an inch of hair length all over. You can opt for a slight fade on your sides (if you’d like) and keep it longer in length if you desire. Basically, the Butch cut is a safe bet!
4. Crew Cut

The perfect crew cut is is trimmed evenly with #4 or more, slightly longer in the front and on most occasions, tapered on the sides and back. A great deal for men with big foreheads! Use some pomade/wax to keep the crew cut in place.
5. High And Tight Cut

A braver version of the undercut, the high and tight style however, works with very short lengths of hair. The back and sides are trimmed using #1 or #2 (as preferred) and the rest of the scalp is maintained at #3 or #4. The whole point is to create contrast with hair length! It’s the most versatile style and as incentive, also adds length to slightly shorter face shapes.
