Just yesterday I was scrolling down on my Facebook feed and realised how some people just got famous overnight, for no good reason at all. We all know that the Internet is a mysterious place – it can make you famous in a second.
Sometimes you only need just one comment, one video or one funky meme to get you all the fame that you need and probably make you trend on social media. Here’s a list of people who got famous for no good reason at all:
1. Kainaat Arora
This morning Indians found themselves drooling over the picture of a super cop and apparently, everyone wanted to get arrested by her. Unfortunately, this cop who managed to shake up the Internet with her plum cheeks and gorgeous eyes was not a cop, but an actress who was impersonating one. After her pictures went viral, she took to Instagram to clear the air.
2. Saif Ali Khan’s doppelganger
While there is not a good reason on this planet why one day you might find the ever-handsome Saif at your petrol pump, good folks on social media did. We all know how we aren’t the only one with this face on earth- as claimed, there are 6 more people who look just like us. This nice fella who works at a petrol pump is apparently Saif’s doppelganger and quite a close one.
3. PM Narendra Modi’s lookalike
Remember just a couple of months ago AIB got the Internet in a tizzy with their meme on PM Modi? With that event we learnt that the Indian government has a tiny appetite for jokes; we also established that there’s a man in India, who looks just like PM Modi – no kidding! The man who was seen waiting for a train at a railway station became the talk of the town without even trying.
4. Yogi Adityanath and Vin Diesel
While neither of the two need any introduction, on 26th March when UP CM Yogi’s face became the most looked-at picture on the Internet, a lot of people began pushing memes of Hollywood actor Vin Diesel. They used pictures of all Diesel’s movies with Yogi’s face on it and then there was no stopping them.
5. Prashant Sethi or Rahul Gandhi?
24-year-old restaurant owner from Surat, Gujarat, Prashant must have had plenty of his friends calling him Rahul and then one day, the whole nation did. Most feel this guy bears a strong resemblance to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, so much so that his wife too calls him as Rahul.
“Some people are friends with me only because I am a Rahul lookalike,” he said with a smile.
6. Bal Thackrey
Bal Keshav Thackeray, the Indian leader who founded Shiv Sena was not a name that sought introduction, which is why to spot someone who looked like him was an easy task. This man created a storm on the Internet, especially in Maharashtra when someone found him.
Everything said and done, I am not sure if I am keen on such fame. Are you?
