Kuo gives two reasons why Apple is planning on churning out more iPhone X units this quarter. He says that consumers have fallen for the premium priced handset, and he cites a hike in demand for the Chinese New Year holiday. Also on consumers’ wish lists is the Apple iPhone 8 Plus. While production of the latter is expected to rise, Apple is expected to reduce the number of Apple iPhone 8 units from October through December by 50% to 60%. To help balance demand with supply, the KGI analyst says that some assembly lines that were turning out the iPhone 8 will switch to producing the iPhone X.
As we mentioned just the other day, Apple shipped 11.8 million units of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus last quarter. 6.3 million of the handsets delivered were the iPhone 8 Plus, which outnumbered the 5.5 million units of the iPhone 8 shipped during the same three months.
