People don’t think twice before replacing a broken telly or a phone. New technology excites and a whole lot of moolah is spent on appliances that can easily last for a few years. But in an age where technology reaches new heights in the blink of an eye, a couple from the UK has managed to spend 50 years on their electrical appliances.
Sydney and Rachel Saunders, an elderly couple from Exeter, UK, have been using their household appliances since the 1950s which include a washing machine, boiler, cooker, and tumble dryer.
The Saunders, both in their eighties, purchased the appliances in 1956 for just £146 GBP ($193 USD). And wondrously, they have managed to make do with all these appliances for 50 years.
The couple is now ready to sell their time-tested items but is not concerned about the amount they would get in return.
In fact, Sydney Saunders would rather that the appliances go to a museum and be preserved! Well, he is not entirely wrong.
