India to participate in NASA Competition for sending Space Vehicle to Jupiter’s Moon

Well there is again a good news for Indian space researchers. An Indian team picked from an Engineering college in India will participate and compete in an event at NASA. The event will have 40 teams from other countries like China and Japan. It is worthwhile noting that the team from India will have 4 girls in it.

 The event is organised by MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) and the Indian team name is called Screwdrivers. The event is NASA’s 15th annual international Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) competition. As NASA intends to send a space mission to Jupiter’s moon that has water, which makes this competition unique i.e the vehicle should survive the long space journey and the water conditions of Jupiter’s moon.

The team from India has revamped and earlier model and have prepared a robot named ‘Spyder’. The ‘Spyder’ has two parts, one part stays above water and other part stays below it.

The Indian team named Screwdrivers have made news in the past for being felicitated by former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and nuclear scientist Anil Krakodhkar.
