Mahendra Singh Dhoni is arguably one of the most popular and loved sports icons in the country. He is only the second Indian captain in history to have won the coveted World Cup and remains the first-ever skipper to win all three major ICC trophies. While his calm and composed demeanour has enthralled fans, his wicket-keeping skills and batting might has aided Team India on numerous occasions.
His exploits on the field have, thereby, earned him plaudits from all over the globe. Despite retiring from the longest format, Dhoni continues to be a big hit with Indian cricket fans who tend to jump at the first opportunity of catching a glimpse, getting an autograph and even click a selfie with the star cricketer.
While Dhoni has been quite humble while trying to accommodate the requests of his fans, the crazy fanfare can undoubtedly become a bit of a ruckus considering India’s love-affair with cricket. And, that was probably the situation when Dhoni was travelling with his wife Sakshi during their recent flight.

With Dhoni seemingly in no mood to get spotted by fans, Sakshi quickly came to the rescue of her husband and covered him with a blanket. With Sakshi’s manoeuvre bearing fruit, fellow passengers were seen passing by Dhoni’s seat with little knowledge of his true identity.

The video of the entire episode was shared by Sakshi on her Instagram handle which has received over 770k views so far. While fans on the flight failed to identify the former Indian captain, cricket enthusiasts on Instagram wasted no time in sharing their views – some funny, while others absolutely insane.
This is not the first time that Sakshi has come to the rescue of her popular husband. During the IPL, earlier this year, the 28-year-old gave a befitting reply to Harsh Goenka – brother of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) owner – after he took a jibe at Dhoni for his batting woes.
Allergic to Dhoni, Goenka took to Twitter and highlighted how Steve Smith overshadowed Dhoni in one of the Pune matches last season. “Smith proves who’s the king of the jungle. Overshadows Dhoni totally. Captains innings. Great move to appoint him as captain,” he said in his tweet which was deleted later.

While Dhoni stayed true to his reputation and didn’t mince words, his wife went hammer and tongs against loudmouth Goenka. Exacting revenge without even mentioning Goenka’s name, Sakshi donned her husband’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey and shared it on Instagram to the sheer jubilation of the Dhoni fans.
She then followed it up with brilliant word-play on Instagram which read: “When a bird is alive, it eats ants. When the bird is dead, ants eat the bird. Time and circumstances can change at any time. Don’t devalue or hurt anyone in life. You may be powerful today, but remember, time is more powerful than you. One tree makes a million match sticks but only one match is needed to burn a million trees. So be good and do good”.
On another occasion, when Dhoni’s personal details pertaining to his Aadhaar card were shared on social media, Sakshi took matters in her own hands to rescue her husband. Taking to Twitter, she slammed the concerned authorities and demanded stern action against those responsible.
is there any privacy left ??? Information of adhaar card including application is made public property!#disappointed

Her tweet eventually led to the intervention of Union Law and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who ordered an inquiry in the case. After a detailed investigation, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) blacklisted the entity – which had enrolled the ace cricketer – for 10 years.
In the modern age where WAGs across all sports are judged by their looks and body, Sakshi Dhoni has showed everyone that she is more than that.
