Pope Francis, the current pope of the Catholic church, just received a personalised one-of-a-kind white and gold Lamborghini Huracan. Well, that’s quite an upgrade to the Popemobile. He got it as a gift from Lamborghini, but unfortunately we won’t be seeing him driving around the Vatican in this supercar.
As soon as he received this special edition of the car, instead of getting behind the wheel, he blessed it and signed its bonnet in Saint Peter’s Square, Vatican City. Lamborghini Huracan is already worth around $200,000, and with the Pope signing it, the price will be bumped up significantly.
It’s a good thing, though, since the Pope has handed over the car to Sotheby’s auctioneers, who plan to auction off the car, with proceeds going to three charities.
One of these charities will help rebuild homes and churches on the towns of the Nineveh Plains in Iraq, where ISIS had forced Christians to flee the area. And for the other two charities, the proceeds will help sex-trafficking victims and development projects in Africa.
This wasn’t the first that the Pope has been a luxury vehicle. Back in 2014, he received a Harley Davidson motorbike and jacket, but auctioned both of them as well. Reportedly, the motorcycle ended up selling for $284,000, more than 10 times its normal sales price, and the jacket signed by Pope Francis sold for nearly $68,000. Similarly, an iPad that Pope Francis once owned sold for $30,500.
Well, there’s no doubt about the fact that a genuine Apostolic Blessing can increase the price. But, it’s such an incredible way to help people, and a lot of people agree.
I may not be a Catholic, but I commend @Pontifex Pope Francis, for donating the $200k Euro Lamborghini he was blessed with to charity. Can other spiritual leaders take a cue from this?

Let’s hope he came through.
Dope, but It would be a real shame if the Pope didn’t use this golden opportunity to write “Jesus take the wheel”… pic.twitter.com/xZ25HyD0ti
