The world has always equated strength with testosterone. Wherever there’s talk about muscle, there’s a man. Such is the world and to a certain extent, such is biology. But every once in a long while comes along an anomaly that astonishes masses and leaves an indelible mark. This is one such story, a story of strength, muscle, fame, stone cold will and offence. This is the story of Matt Krocc that shook the world of bodybuilding and powerlifting.
The man you see in the image below was Matt Krocc. If you have been in the iron game for long and keep your eyes and ears open for knowledge, you must have heard about Matt Krocc. He was a bodybuilder, a powerlifter and featured across a range of supplements for years. Apart from the above, he was the guy who invented the ‘Krocc Row’.
The person you are looking at below is Janae Marie Kroczaleski.
The rumors in the lifting circuit were a rift. Matt ‘dresses like a woman’, ‘he wants to be a female’ and what not. While the testosterone crazed alpha male fans disregarded this, Matt was indeed living a different than expected life. In July of 2015, Matt Krocc came out as transgender. It was after a stealth video which recorded Matt as a cross dressed person. The world of strength sports was shell-shocked. But Matt wasn’t. Matt always knew what he really was inside. In 2015, during an in-depth interview with Testosterone nation Matt informed that his identity was very much noticed in his peer circle and was not anything new for the people who knew him. Matthew Raymond Kroczaleski aka Matt, as we speak, is now known as Janae Marie Kroczaleski.
Ex Marine, Secret Services And Personal Security To Bill Clinton
Matt served as a Marine in the US Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995 and was selected as for personal security to Bill Clinton. It was this time in the marines that he started entering powerlifting championships and went on to become a legend.
738 Pound Bench Press. 810 Pound Deadlift. 1003 Pound Back Squat.
In April of 2009, Krocc set one of the biggest records in the 220 pound weight class with a combined total of 2251 pounds. The record was later broken but remained one of the most iconic power lifting records of all times.
An Example Of Utmost Courage
Coming from an industry that’s testosterone governed, it surely wasn’t an easy task for Matt. Multiple times he got on and off hormone therapies and kept himself closeted because of his three sons. He went through a divorce because he and his wife knew that things weren’t going to work out. Muscletech, his foremost sponsor, dropped him and so did a legion of fans that looked up to Matt. But Matt didn’t let all this stop him. He was tougher than his toughest times and chose what he thought was right for him. As we speak, Matt has already gone through hormone replacement, facial reconstruction and breast argumentation, which is just a small part of his complete transition into a woman.
