The Google Pixel 2 XL was second, with 31.41% of last weekend’s hook-ups. With 28.72%, the Apple iPhone X was in third place followed by the Apple iPhone 8 (17.7%) and the Apple iPhone 8 Plus (13.98%) to round out the top five. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 were 9th and 10th with 9.5% and 2.78% of activations, respectively. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were helped by a number of promotions at Verizon, Best Buy, Project Fi and in the Google Store.
Localytics also discovered that while the Christmas weekend was better for iPhone sales this year compared to last year, the holiday weekend that just passed could not beat out the 2015 activation numbers. Lastly, the analytics firm reported that the iPhone X now makes up 5.28% of active iPhone models. The Apple iPhone 7 (19.31%) is the most widely used variant of Apple’s smartphone followed by the Apple iPhone 6s (16.86%) and Apple iPhone 6 (14.42%).
