HTC to launch fewer smartphones in 2018, including a mid-range version of U11+

HTC is having a hard time, especially after selling most of its mobile staff to Google. Even so, the Taiwanese company plans a comeback in the smartphone business, but that might not happen in 2018.

According to industry sources, HTC will launch a limited number of smartphones in 2018. The company’s R&D and marketing efforts will focus on a single flagship and a few mid-range Android smartphones, which will be released next year.

To improve its presence in the mid-range segment, HTC plans to release a water-down version of the HTC U11+ in January 2018, so we’re expecting an official announcement at CES (Consumers Electronics Show) early next month.

HTC’s 2018 roadmap also includes a new flagship smartphone, supposedly named HTC U12. The top-tier device is said to boast a Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and dual-camera setup.

However, it’s unclear when exactly the HTC U12 will be unveiled, but our best bet is late February or early March when most smartphone companies introduce their flagships.
