IPL 2018: Tamil Outfit Members Stage Protest Outside Chepauk Stadium Over Cauvery Issue
Members of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi staged a protest outside Chepauk stadium — where an IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders — is set to be held in the evening. The outfit members, who were protesting against the Centre’s failure to constitute a Cauvery management board, wanted the match to be cancelled.
Despite huge security around the stadium, the protesters managed to reach the gate number one and tried to lock it. They managed to reach the gate through MRTS station, according to sources.
Police picked up eight of them.
Over 5,000 policemen have been posted for security around the stadium. Roads leading to the stadium, including Wallajah Road and Bharathi Salai, were also barricaded.
