Slowly but surely, Google is updating all its iOS apps to
properly support Apple’s iPhone X and its unusual 5.8‑inch Super Retina screen.
The very latest Google-made app that’s gained iPhone X support – thanks to an
update released today, December 4 – is Gmail.
Weirdly, there’s no mention of iPhone X support in the “What’s
New” notes of the updated Gmail app (version 5.0.171119). Nevertheless, if
you’re updating the application on an iPhone X, you’ll notice that Gmail now makes
use of the handset’s full display, including the right and left sides of its
Alongside iPhone X support, the new Gmail update adds the
ability to use non-Google (third-party) email accounts – this is something
that’s been available on Gmail for Android for years now.
