The IPL for Mohammed Shami has started with three defeats and one victory for his side Delhi Daredevils.
This was after the controversy that saw wife his Hasin Jahan label some grave charges including that of domestic abuse, rape attempt on him. While the pacer is attempting to focus his attention on cricket, he has been called up for interrogation by the police in Kolkata on the domestic abuse complaint.
Shami had arrived in Kolkata for the first time since the feud with his wife, as the Delhi Daredevils were scheduled to play against the Knight Riders at Eden Gardens stadium on Monday. Ahead of the match, the investigation officers had told TOI that they haven’t found anything conclusive in the matter to call Shami for Q&A. With the KKR tie now over and the next match scheduled on April 21, Shami has been summoned by Kolkata Police for interrogation.”Kolkata Police has summoned Mohammad Shami tomorrow at 2 pm for interrogation after his wife Hasin Jahan had filed a domestic abuse complaint against him,” ANI tweeted on Tuesday.

Hasin, who had even sought West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s support on the matter had expressed disappointment on the way the Police has handled her case. “I had a lot of faith in the city police initially, but seeing the way the case is being handled, I am slowly losing my faith. It seems any celebrity can escape the law using his influence and power, and helpless citizen like me will continue to suffer,” she told had TOI.With Shami also in Kolkata, Hasin was asked if she would look to meet her husband again but the woman said there’s no use. “What is the use? He had humiliated me when I went to Delhi to meet him. There is no point in me trying to meet him again and facing insult.
I would rather be happy if the cops meet him,” she had said. While Hasin has repeatedly refused to compromise on the matter, Shami has been denying involvement in any of the matter that his wife has raised. The cricketer was given a clean chit by the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit after a thorough investigation took place in February. While Shami’s on-field career might have been sorted, there’s a lot yet to be unfolded as far as the pace bowler’s off-field life is concerned.
