Remember when a Mumbai man was charged Rs 149 crore by Ola for a 300-metre ride? The error had happened due to a technical glitch.
In a similar incident, a customer in Toronto was charged $18,000 (Canadian dollars, mind you) for an 8-kilometre ride due to the same reason.
The customer booked an Uber from Widmer Street to The Queensway in Toronto on Friday evening. The man was shocked to see a bill of $18,000 for a trip that should have cost him between $12 to $16.
The customer posted the screenshot of the trip on his private Instagram account. It was later shared on Twitter by a woman who claimed to be his friend.

In a statement to Slate, a company representative said,
“There was an error here and it has been resolved. We have provided a full refund to this rider and apologized to him for this experience. We have safeguards in place to help prevent something like this from happening, and we are working to understand how this occurred.”
And here we are, always complaining about surge pricing. Tch tch.
