Women Shooter Disappoints as well in Rio

India’s first medal possible medal event ended in disappointment as shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul failed to qualify for the final of the 10m air rifle event.

Apurvi finished 34th and Ayonika 43rd – sadly, on the top eight go through and fight it out for medals. Ayonika clearly lost composure in the last round, scoring a poor 98, and while Apurvi was there or thereabouts after two series, she couldn’t up her game to match those in the elite group of eight.

This is how they fared:

Ayonika:

  • 1st series:102.0
  • 2nd series: 104.5
  • 3rd series: 102.5
  • 4th series: 98.0

TOTAL: 407.0

Apurvi:

  • 1st series: 104.2
  • 2nd series: 102.7
  • 3rd series: 103.3
  • 4th series: 101.4
  • TOTAL: 411.6
